Editorial policy

Aruba Turtle Guide separates firsthand field notes, official guidance and dated commercial research so readers can see what each claim is based on.

Who is responsible

Tommy writes and edits the guide. He is an SDI Divemaster and AIDA Freediving Instructor, with two years of snorkeling experience in the Maldives and a year and a half of daily snorkeling with sea turtles in Aruba.

Firsthand observations

Entry descriptions, route orientation, original location photographs and recurring timing patterns are labelled as field observations. A time-sensitive check—such as a visible parking or access change—carries a specific date.

Field notes describe what Tommy observed; they do not establish an official swimming boundary, predict future sea conditions or guarantee wildlife. A route sketch is an orientation aid, never a navigation chart.

External sources

Biological, conservation, transport and official visitor facts are linked near the relevant claim. Primary sources are preferred: government agencies, official Aruba visitor resources, recognized safety organizations and the original operator or marketplace listing.

When a public source does not establish a detail, the site avoids filling the gap with an estimate. Unverified walking times, depths, facilities, pickup promises and animal encounter rates are not presented as facts.

Tour comparison and affiliate independence

Tour data is a dated snapshot. Matching listings are deduplicated by operator, format and itinerary; conflicts are surfaced for readers to verify. Missing ratings stay missing, and the final checkout page controls current price and availability.

Some clearly labelled Viator links may earn a commission at no extra cost to the reader. Compensation does not buy placement or change the comparison method. See the affiliate disclosure and the research method and downloadable dataset.

Reviews and endorsements

Guest reviews are not copied onto an author profile merely because a name matches. Identity, source terms and permission must be clear. An award attached to a tour listing is not represented as a personal award or as an endorsement of this website.

Updates and corrections

Material updates change the visible reviewed or field-check date. Minor typography changes do not create a new field-check claim. Safety-relevant access changes receive priority.

To request a correction, send Tommy a private Instagram message with the page URL, the statement at issue and a supporting primary source or firsthand detail. Substantive corrections are reviewed and incorporated with an updated date.
