The two entries at a glance
Both sites sit on Aruba’s northwest coast, but the last few metres into the water feel different. Use this comparison to choose an entry, then reassess the sea in person.

Which should you choose?
Choose Boca Catalina first when a sandy entry is important. Aruba’s tourism authority describes the bay as providing easy ocean access and being popular with families, but that description is not a same-day safety report.
Choose Tres Trapi only when everyone is comfortable with the steps, compact opening and open-water setting. Watch several wave sets from land and skip the entry if surge makes the return awkward.
Tommy’s field strategy starts at Boca Catalina around sunrise, then continues at Tres Trapi about four hours after sunrise. These are recurring personal observations, not a biological schedule or a guarantee that conditions will remain suitable.
These are two separate shore-entry swims, not a continuous swim between beaches. Exit at the same place you entered and travel overland before reassessing conditions at the next beach.
Do not continue merely to complete an itinerary. A later site can have different surge, current, visibility or boat activity.
What the orange buoys mean
The diagrams do not confirm that crossing a buoy line or using a gap is permitted. Follow current signs and local instructions; never cross a marked swimming boundary or enter a boat lane. If access or conditions are unclear, stay out and ask a qualified local guide.
